When I worked in the office, I did at least 10 hours a day without any extra pay! Honestly, i wasn't even appreciated any better. It is hard to start your own thing when you have to pay morgage on a house and thousand other things monthly. I guess, the best time to do anything about leaving "9 to 5" is when you are still single and have not much to lose. So true that “9 to 5″ is a complete lie!
