The comment by Practical Retiree illustrates the point made in the blog entry.

Look at that first link. What conclusion would any reasonable person draw from taking a look at that discussion board if the topic were anything other than investing? Because the topic is investing, many are willing to put their common sense on hold.

The second link is to a forum where a lot of exciting research was published in real time. That forum was removed from the internet at the demand of the abusive posters who congregate at the first forum linked to above. In its orginal form the material posted at the second forum is top-notch stuff, but a good number of those posts were doctored when they were put up in this stolen version (the owner of that site did not give permission for the version that appears at the link to be posted on the internet).

And, yes, I did remove abusive material when it was posted to that forum during the time that I served as moderator. Does that make me a bear? My view is that it just makes me a human. Do humans not have standards that apply in all other areas of life endeavor. Is there some reason why we should abandon our standards when discussing investing topics?

Rob Bennett's record as a "financial analyst" speaks for itself. Two places he posted frequently as "Hocus" are:

http://www.s152957355.onlinehome.us/cgi-bin/yabb2/YaBB.pl?board=HOCO

as well as

http://s162532268.onlinehome.us/Sewer/viewforum.php?f=1

where as moderator, he deleted posts very frequently for disagreeing with him.
